Free Rubric Generator for Teachers
Create classroom-ready rubrics by state, subject, grade level, and assignment topic — in seconds. 100% free, no sign-up.
How the rubric generator works
- Pick a Subject — Math, Reading, Writing, Science, Social Studies, Art, Music, Physical Education, Technology, or General Classroom.
- Pick a Grade Level — Kindergarten through 12th Grade.
- (Optional) Pick a State — any of the 50 U.S. states. State appears in the rubric only if selected.
- Enter an Assignment Topic — e.g., "Black History project", "Science lab report", "Persuasive essay".
- Total Points — defaults to 20; must be a positive whole number.
- Click Generate Rubric — a 4-criteria × 4-level rubric appears below the form with subject-specific criteria, weighted point values, and descriptors per performance level.
- Use Copy Rubric to paste it into Google Docs / Word, or Print Rubric to print a clean classroom-ready page.
Performance levels
Each generated rubric uses four levels: Excellent (4 pts), Good (3 pts), Satisfactory (2 pts), Needs Improvement (1 pt) — proportional to your chosen total points.
